Kakadu Discovery Day

I'll show you - Can you learn to be an artist?

Tubes of paint hang on the white wall.

Artists have been around forever. Generally, they are regarded as people, who are particularly talented in painting. Today there are countless museums and galleries that exhibit works of art by famous artists. Picasso or Yves Klein, for example - both very famous, talented and creative - and yet they became artists in completely different ways. Women such as Käthe Kollwitz or Paula Modersohn-Becker are also among the most famous artists of the 20th century.

In Kakadu, a format of Deutschlandfunk Kultur, children become art experts. Together with the author Ilka Lorenzen, a report was produced in which the children themselves lead and talk about being an artist.

Is a special talent, a strong will, creativity and good ideas enough to become an artist? What exactly is an artist? And how does one become an artist?

The Kakadu children's art experts Yara, Jona, Lea, Luisa, Jakob and Jaron inquired what it takes to be an artist. They visited the artists Rebecca Raue and Volker Merz.
