City of Palaces

Palaces and castles used to demonstrate power?

Two children look at and touch a globe during a workshop in cooperation with the Humboldt Forum.

We set out in search of a new structure through which we can create spaces in the present and for the future that connect and unite and emphasise the potential of every individual.

With "City of Palaces", Ephra was part of the project "This is our building site too!", which was carried out by Salapanga with a total of eight schools in cooperation with the Humboldt Forum. The children had visits to the Humboldt Box, Tegel Palace, narrators in a yurt, and an architect. Afterwards, they spent the project week working on individual rooms, palaces and islands. These were connected to each other and unified, creating a complex system of lines and references that can be understood as the floor plan of a modern palace. The reconstructed and abstracted floor plan of our "Palace for All" was on display in the Humboldt Box from 14 October to 16 December 2018.
