Kids Tours at Art Berlin
Since 2013, Ephra has been offering performative children's tours (so-called children's flights) for young art fair visitors as part of the abc (art berlin contemporary) or art berlin. A family area accessible from the foyer of the fair also offered space for creativity, rest, ideas and exchange.
The annual art fair held in September (first in Berlin Station, then in the hangar of Temeplhof Airport) is a platform for international galleries presenting contemporary artworks from all over the world. Every year, young visitors "fly" around the fair with Ephra for an hour. The playful narratives individually designed by the Ephra team inspire to engage with the themes of the exhibited works and offer the children an unusual and intuitive approach to contemporary art. Each tours has its own theme. This "flight" is all about fostering the personal experience of each individual child. The children wear lovingly processed signal waistcoats, which leads to the tours being curiously observed by the visitors, exhibitors and artists.
Direct observation is gratifying because it involves real contact. What is he or she thinking and how does it make me feel? Do I know what is being expressed? Suddenly a conversation is initiated.
“Through the children's tours offered by Ephra, children are introduced to art in a playful and joyful way. The children discuss the artistic works with seriousness.“
