The Wall is invisible now
Film project on "30 Years of Peaceful Revolution - Fall of the Berlin Wall”
Whom or what do I protect myself from? Are protective walls always visible? Why are walls built? What do people want to achieve with them? How do people feel about it? What walls are there in your life?
During two project days, 22 pupils of the Hansa primary school dealt with the topic "inner walls/outer walls" by means of selected questions and communication exercises. Through the exchange, they were able to develop a personal approach to the topic of walls and put their own associations and images into words. The thoughts expressed were recorded and used as sound in the film "The Wall is Invisible". The result was a "living wall" of 30 children, placed close together.
“The Berlin Wall didn't actually do anything. Because Berlin is actually good as it is“
The project was created as part of the Berlin Festival Week "30 Years of Peaceful Revolution - Fall of the Wall" from 4 to 10 November 2019. The capital became a large open-air exhibition and event site. At over two hundred events at seven original sites of the Peaceful Revolution, visitors could inform themselves, remember, exchange and celebrate.
As part of the film project "Made of Courage", children and young people showed their perspectives on the Berlin Wall, on the fall of the Wall and on walls in their everyday lives in short films.
The results were presented on two dates during the festival week (Tuesday, 5 November 2019, 10:00-12:00 and Wednesday, 6 November 2019, 10:00-12:00) at the Programme Pavilion at Alexanderplatz and all films were presented in a continuous loop at the East Side Gallery.
